Drupal 12 requires PHP 8.5.0 or later and a database meeting one of these minimums: PostgreSQL 18, MariaDB 10.11, MySQL 8.0 or SQLite 3.45. Composer 2.9.3 is recommended, not required. Web server requirements are unchanged from Drupal 11. Starting with Drupal 12.0, PHP must also be compiled with argon2 support, as Argon2id becomes the default password hashing algorithm. Because Drupal drops unsupported PHP versions in minor releases, check your current branch's actual floor rather than the Drupal 11.0 figure.

No. Drupal 12 removes all core update paths before 11.3.0, so a Drupal 10 site must reach Drupal 11.3 or higher first. Landing on Drupal 11.0, 11.1 or 11.2 satisfies the December 2026 end-of-life deadline for Drupal 10 but does not make Drupal 12 reachable without a further upgrade, and those minors are already outside security support.

Six modules are removed: Ban, Contact, Field Layout, History, Migrate Drupal and Migrate Drupal UI. Contributed replacements exist for the first four and should be installed while the site is still on Drupal 11.3 or later, before the Drupal 12 code upgrade. Migrate Drupal and Migrate Drupal UI have no contributed replacement.

You clear the Drupal 10 end-of-life deadline but not the Drupal 12 prerequisite, so you would need a second upgrade project before Drupal 12 becomes reachable. Drupal 11.1 is also already outside security support. Drupal 12 removes all core update paths below 11.3.0, which makes 11.3 the practical floor for any Drupal 10 site moving in 2026.

Drupal 12.0.0 and Drupal 11.5.0 are scheduled for the week of 7 December 2026, after the release date moved from an earlier August target. Drupal 10 reaches end of life on 9 December 2026, two days later, and no further Drupal 10 releases will be made. Drupal 10.6.0 is the final minor release of the branch. The end-of-life date, not the Drupal 12 release, is the deadline that matters for Drupal 10 sites.
