Presented by Vardot’s CEO, Mohammed Razem, we will talk about the best practices that will help you migrate a successful enterprise multilingual website from Drupal 7 to Drupal 9 and how this helped the MSF Middle East team in achieving their goals.
This includes showcasing the challenges and transformation that faced the MSF website upgrading from Drupal 7 to Drupal 9, presenting a live demo of Médecins Sans Frontières' new website running on the Varbase distribution. We will also talk about how to choose the best Drupal 9 distribution to use for building a flexible and scalable CMS. Finally, we will present practical examples of how a CMS makes it easy to manage multilingual sites.
The MSF Project in a Nutshell
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) or Doctors Without Borders is an International, independent medical humanitarian non-profit organization. Vardot has worked with MSF since 2018, the MSF website was running an outdated CMS using Drupal 7, which gives an outdated performance and design since Drupal 7 is reaching its end of life by the end of 2022. In addition, the site was hosted on a non-Drupal compliant server, which led to performance degradation over time.
The site itself had areas that needed improvement, such as the inability of the editorial team to update content or create pages without needing developer help. The donation system was also separate, very specialized, and not easy to update. Finally, the UX/UI needed to be more responsive and more on-page SEO made possible.
After Vardot was given the go-ahead to do a full site audit, our team found that Médecins Sans Frontières needed a responsive, multilingual site with an integrated donation's platform to further its funding potential, marketing efforts, and knowledge sharing objectives.
Finally, Vardot helped the Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) organization to optimize its capacity to raise donations and keep the world informed about its research and activities by developing a superfast, responsive website with a new integrated donations platform.
